RECOGNITION, MADE PERMANENT

Some contributions deserve more than a moment of recognition.

Every year, nonprofit organizations gather to recognize remarkable people.

They are founders, volunteers, philanthropists, educators, advocates, business leaders, and community builders.

Their names appear in programs. Their accomplishments are announced from stages. Their photographs appear on screens.

And then the evening ends.

The Honoree Portrait Partnership was created to make that recognition more permanent.

Ken Demery Photography partners with select nonprofit organizations to create professionally guided portraits of the individuals being recognized at galas, awards programs, and other significant community events.

These portraits help the organization tell the honorees' stories before, during, and after the event while creating something more enduring for the people being celebrated.

A portrait created not simply for the event, but for the legacy of the person being honored.

HOW THE PARTNERSHIP WORKS

Four intentional stages.

01 | Select

Your organization identifies the people whose contributions deserve recognition.

The partnership begins with a conversation about your organization, upcoming event, and honorees. Together, we determine the number of people to be photographed, how the portraits will be used, and the appropriate creative direction.

02 | Create

Each honoree receives a professionally guided portrait experience.

Ken personally photographs each participant. The experience is relaxed, intentional, and professionally directed. Honorees do not need to know how to pose or be comfortable in front of a camera. They simply need to arrive. Ken takes care of the rest.

03 | Celebrate

The portraits become tools for recognition and storytelling.

Selected finished portraits may be licensed for approved recognition and promotional uses.

  • Gala programs

  • Event websites

  • Social media

  • Email campaigns

  • Press and publicity

  • Event presentations

  • Recognition displays

  • Post-event communications

  • Donor communications

The result is a consistent collection created around the people and stories at the heart of the event.

04 | Preserve

Recognition shouldn't disappear when the gala ends.

Participating honorees may also receive a professionally produced gift portrait as a lasting reminder of the recognition. It transforms something created for an event into something personal—something that can be held, displayed, shared with family, and eventually passed down.

MORE THAN EVENT PHOTOGRAPHY

The gala is one moment in a much larger story.

The Honoree Portrait Partnership is intentionally different from traditional event photography.

Event photography documents what happened that evening.

The Honoree Portrait Partnership celebrates the people who made the evening necessary.

Portraits are typically created before the event, giving the organization finished imagery that can become part of the storytelling leading up to the celebration.

PARTNERSHIP STORY

NC Arts in Action

The Need

NC Arts in Action was preparing to recognize individuals whose leadership and support had helped advance the organization's mission.

The Partnership

Ken Demery Photography created a coordinated series of portraits of the organization's honorees before the event.

The Result

The organization received a consistent collection of finished portraits that could be incorporated into its recognition and event communications, while the honorees received something more personal and lasting.

Beyond the Gala

The people behind your mission have stories worth preserving.

The Honoree Portrait Partnership often begins with a recognition event, but meaningful nonprofit storytelling doesn't end when the event is over.

Ken Demery Photography also works with organizations to create intentional portraits and visual stories around the people who make their mission possible, including donors, volunteers, leadership, community partners and the people whose lives have been impacted by their work.

ABOUT KEN DEMERY

Portraits meant to live beyond the moment.

Ken Demery is a Triangle-based portrait photographer and the founder of Ken Demery Photography.

His work is built around a simple belief: important photographs deserve a life beyond a screen.

Ken specializes in professionally guided, print-first portrait experiences designed to create photographs that become part of a family's, organization's, and community's visual history.

Rather than simply photographing what someone looks like, his portrait work seeks to preserve something about who that person is and why they matter to the people around them.

The Honoree Portrait Partnership extends that philosophy into the nonprofit community. By partnering with organizations already doing meaningful work, Ken uses portraiture to recognize the individuals whose leadership, generosity, and service have helped make that work possible.
